There have been a ton of new makeup releases from CoverGirl this spring and the Vitalist Healthy Elixir Foundation definitely caught my attention! I haven’t had the best luck with CoverGirl foundations in the past but I was hoping this foundation would leave me with a lightweight glowy look for summer.
The Covergirl Vitalist Healthy Elixir Foundation has a vitamin infused formula that claims to give a glowy finish with buildable coverage. This foundation retails for $11.99 and comes 14 shades. I picked up the shade 710 which was the closest match to my skin tone.
When I first applied the foundation I really liked the finish. It looked very natural while covering imperfections. As soon as I started to apply the rest of my makeup the foundation started to look cakey. I wore this foundation over the course of a few days and I found that I could never get it to set properly regardless of which primer and translucent setting powder I used.
I rarely find that foundations feel oily, but because of the creamy formula this did not dry down to a matte or even demi matte finish and it felt tacky throughout the day.
I do have fairly dry skin and usually glowy foundations work well for me but the Healthy Elixir Foundation definitely felt more cakey than glowy.
For reference, my perfect foundation match is MAC NC 25 which is swatched above the Healthy Elixir Foundation in the shade 710. The other downside for me is that there are no shades with yellow undertones in this range and the color did oxidize to a more pinkish tone throughout the day.
Overall, the Healthy Elixir Foundation did not work for me at all. I will be sticking with my L’oreal Pro Glow Foundation for my favorite drugstore pick!
Another new CoverGirl makeup release is the Total Tease Mascara. This mascara retails for $7.99 and claims to leave your lashes with a full, long, and refined look.
The mascara has a raised tip on the wand that is meant to help tease your lashes wherever you might want more volume. I have very fine lashes and I did find that this mascara gave me a good amount of length but it did not help to add volume to my lashes.
The Total Tease Mascara works well if you want to avoid a clumpy lash look. If you are on the hunt for a drugstore mascara that adds both length and volume I would recommend the L’oreal Voluminous Mascara over the Total Tease Mascara.
Have you tried either of these new CoverGirl products?

Hi,
I also purchased the Vitalist foundation in 710, today. According to an email received by Covergirl, Ivory and Classic Ivory are both meant for yellow undertones. However, after reading your article, I’m concerned that this will also turn pink on me.
